2026 Archaeology Day at Meigs Point Nature Center

FOSA members Jerry Tolchin and Gary Nolf manned the annual New Years Day event in Madison, CT. Although a blustery cold day, many intrepid hikers stopped by to learn about CT coastal archaeology. Jerry (green hat) is pictured discussing various projectile point types representative of the region over a ten thousand year span.

Below is a chert biface from Chappaqua NY brought in by an individual seeking identification.

Below Gary Noff examines teeth (pictured below) brought in by an inquisitive participant. They are not from New England and although one exhibits a hole (marine borer hole?) are questionable as to being artifacts.

A fantastic outreach program to start FOSA’s 2026 program year!
