2003 Annual Meeting Info

The 2003 meeting was held on February 1 at Glastonbury High School, 330 Hubbard Street, Glastonbury, CT.

The guest speaker was James Deetz, Staff Archaeologist of the Jamestown Rediscovery Project, a part of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. His topic will be "James Fort 1607: The Archaeology of the Early English Colonial Fort."

Nine seasons of excavation of the fort, previously thought to have eroded into the James River, have provided many new insights into early colonial life in Virginia. These have resulted in changes to the way scholars have thought about the early colonists and their interactions with local Algonquin peoples.
